Research Interest Groups (RIGs)

Research Interest Groups (RIGs), an MU faculty-led grassroots effort, connects multidisciplinary investigators and scientists to national funding agency opportunities for developing large-scale, competitive research proposals.

Research Development Network

Tap into a network of research development professionals with a range of expertise who can improve the quality of your proposal.

Research Development Network

The MU Research Development Network includes research development professionals in various divisions, departments and units across campus. Members offer a broad range of educational backgrounds, technical expertise and agency-specific knowledge that others can tap to improve the quality of proposal development activities. The Network meets monthly to share resources, information and talent; support each other’s professional development; forge interdisciplinary collaborations; and advance MU’s extramural funding agenda. You are encouraged to reach out to your unit's research development professional.

Research Interest Groups (RIGs)

Research Interest Groups (RIGs) are a grass-roots effort by MU faculty to bring together multidisciplinary investigators and scientists to increase success through team building and collaborations. The goal of the RIGs is to connect research groups with specific funding opportunities and to develop large-scale, competitive research and proposals to submit to national funding agencies. To join a RIG, search the RIGs database with descriptions and contact information.

IDEAS Labs

MU IDEAS labs are based on a model established at the National Science Foundation. It is an intensive, interactive brainstorming environment where multidisciplinary researchers get together to engage with each other and develop collaborative, data-driven research proposals around a central theme around targeted research opportunities. IDEAS Labs are held throughout the year and are initiated mainly by the RIGs and ORED.

Request more information on IDEAS labs at muresearch@missouri.edu.

Flash Talks

Flash talks are very short presentations where participants introduce a scientific concept or idea in a way that’s understandable by others outside the area of expertise. RIGs are encouraged to schedule Flash Talks to kick off their periodic meetings.

Request more information on Flash Talks at muresearch@missouri.edu.

Online Collaborative Resources

The University of Missouri System has developed a public-facing website for identifying collaborators by research or focus area. The Academic Analytics website, called UM Scholars, allows researchers to search systemwide by name or research topic.

Competitive Intelligence

Competitive intelligence, a specialized service of Research Analytics, is the collection and analysis of information to inform decision-making and strategic planning at MU. Understanding sponsor priorities and trends can help you in developing successful proposals to external agencies.

Request more information about competitive intelligence at researchanalytics@missouri.edu.

iThenticate

iThenticate is text recognition software that checks a manuscript or proposal against published literature to identify both legitimate duplication (e.g., literature citations) and inappropriate use of text (e.g., plagiarism, redundant publication).
