Who we are
The Division of Information Technology Research Support Solutions team (ITRSS) provides investigators with in-person assistance to meet their research-related IT needs. We advocate for and prioritize the development of next-generation computing resources and work to strengthen the university's research data ecosystem.
Part of the MizzouForward initiative, the ITRSS team plays an integral role in enhancing MU’s research and education missions. Traditionally, IT resources have focused on solving university business needs. Now our technologists are helping move the needle to ensure researchers can go further, faster.
What we do
We provide consultation, training and support in the following areas:
- High-performance computing (HPC) to solve large, complex problems at high speed.
- Graphical processing units (GPU) to accelerate scientific workflows.
- Research storage resources.
- Hellbender resources for coursework. Contact muitrss@missouri.edu for more information.
- Specialized system support for research-focused computational and instrument computers.
- Grant proposal assistance for IT-related projects that need to meet the requirements of the National Institute of Standards and Technology. We also provide facilities and equipment boilerplate documentation that can be included in grant proposals.
How we do it
Our team prioritizes the development of the next generation of computing resources and is working to implement solutions to improve the research data ecosystem (storage, data management). This includes assisting researchers with getting the necessary tools and equipment when standard processes don’t fit. We help you build meaningful partnerships and advocate for the IT-related resources you need.
HPC clusters are optimal for jobs that require parallel processing, large memory capacity and high-speed interconnects to efficiently handle massive datasets and complex computations.
