Our Mission
The Animal Modeling Core (AMC) provides comprehensive genetic engineering and model development services to support basic, translational and biomedical research. We specialize in the design, generation and characterization of genetically engineered animal and cellular models using state-of-the-art genome editing and molecular genetic technologies.
Our team works closely with investigators to develop customized approaches for complex research questions, from initial experimental design through model generation and validation. Capabilities include CRISPR-based genome editing, transgenic and targeted animal model development, viral vector and genome editing applications, and access to human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) engineering and related services.
The AMC serves investigators at the University of Missouri and external academic, nonprofit, and industry organizations. In addition to fee-for-service projects, AMC faculty and staff are available to collaborate on experimental design, grant proposals, and research projects requiring expertise in genome engineering, molecular genetics, animal modeling, and cellular disease models.
