The Thermo Scientific HM525 NX is a high-performance cryostat for cutting sections from fresh and fixed tissue samples. This instrument has a manual cutting drive and can cut 1–100 micron-thick tissue sections at temperatures as low as -35°C. A Peltier cryobar cooled to -55°C facilitates fast freezing of a specimen. The blade holder takes low and high profile disposable blades. Individual low-profile blades, OCT embedding medium, and cryo-molds for tissue embedding are available for purchase at the MCC.
