We offer one- to two-hour sessions focused on specific topics related to research development. Topics might include finding funding, mentoring, proposal development and broader impacts. Attendees also will be introduced to program officers at various national funding agencies and will be provided with strategies to approach and build the relationships that are vital to success.
Unless otherwise indicated, our workshops are open to all faculty, students and staff.

Are you new to MU? It is almost time for your promotion and tenure process? Would you like to understand sponsored projects reporting in more detail? It is never too early to gain more information! Reviewing your grants data will also save you time and headache for myVITA updates, CV compilations and for future proposal submissions.
This virtual session will focus on understanding and preparing sponsored projects for the promotion and tenure process, but will be helpful to all activities where investigators need to report on grants activity. We will briefly describe the timeline and submission materials, go over terminology for sponsored projects and share common issues that often arise during this review and how they can be resolved. This session will be recorded and posted on the RII Professional Development website afterwards.

Seminar: National Science Foundation (NSF) Convergence Accelerator Program Opportunities

National-scale societal challenges cannot be solved by a single discipline. Instead, these challenges require convergence: the merging of innovative ideas, approaches, and technologies from a wide and diverse range of sectors and expertise.
Launched in 2019, the NSF Convergence Accelerator builds upon basic research and discovery to accelerate solutions toward societal impact. The program funds teams to solve societal challenges through convergence research and innovation. To enhance its impact, the Convergence Accelerator also places teams together in cohorts, synergizing their work through facilitated collaboration.
While the overarching goal of the program is to enable long-lasting societal impact, results for each solution and the way a solution transitions to societal impact will vary.
Examples include:
- Integration of a solution into existing systems.
- Production of open-source tools and knowledge products.
- Expansion of a solution into new markets.
- Follow-on funding and investment.
