The Plant Transformation Core Facility at the University of Missouri provides fee-based plant transformation and related services to internal customers, external customers and commercial entities.

Stable transformation service

Our transformation services are focused on the production of maize, soybean, sorghum, rice, tomato, cotton, brachypodium and switchgrass. We encourage customers interested in the transformation of other plant species to contact us.

Transformation-related services

  • Cloning services available for promoter, gene of interest, full cassette and CRISPR/Cas9.
  • Characterization and mutation analysis for genome editing events.
  • Characterization of transgenic events include PCR-based analysis of transgene presence, southern blot analysis for transgene copy number determination, qRT-PCR for transcript abundance assessment and flanking sequence analysis.

For regular transformation services duration is given below.

Please contact us for availability of transformation services for other genotypes or species.

On average we will be generating three to five transgenic events per construct. Clients must secure appropriate permit(s) before we send out the transgenic material. Charges related to permits, seed testing and shipping that may be required need to be paid by the customer.

Project initiation

To start a service project, email us with details of species, genotype and number of constructs. We will send you a service request form and pricing information.

  • Submit the request form.
  • Send plasmids to PTCF and make initial payment.
  • We will start transformation with your constructs, send you updates on project progress and ship the transgenic plantlets/seeds.

For general information, project inquiry and pricing please contact Dr. Bing Yang.
