Human development and family science investigators Sonja Winter, above, and Russell Ravert plan to use their Research Council grant to support a study that examines trends based on psychological distress scores and mental health service use among domestic and international student-athletes.
March 31, 2025
The University of Missouri Division of Research invested in 13 faculty projects with Research Council grants of up to $15,000 each for research, scholarship and creative endeavors leading to book contracts, juried performances, art exhibits, peer-reviewed articles and the generation of pilot data for grant proposals.
Anne Myers, associate professor of English, said her Research Council grant will allow her to travel to England to examine documents concerning the placement and interpretation of monuments. Her current project is focused on understanding the origins of present-day controversies surrounding the removal of public monuments in the United Kingdom and United States.
"I'm excited and grateful for this opportunity," Myers said. "I am hopeful that substantiating the connections I see between past and present ideas about monuments with more specific historical research and evidence will strengthen future applications for long-term residential grants for this project."
Investigators who submitted applications at the end of March for the last round of Research Council grants will be notified of an award by May 16. Grant applications will be accepted again during the 2025 fall semester. For more information, email Internal Funding staff.
