Federal funding updates
Latest communication
Email from Thomas E. Spencer, Vice Chancellor for Research, 2/13/2025
Dear Colleagues:
As you may have seen in President Mun Y. Choi’s recent email, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) announced a new policy capping indirect costs (IDC) at 15% for both new and existing grants, effective Feb. 10, 2025. However, this policy is now blocked nationwide with a temporary restraining order. While these legal challenges unfold, we recognize the uncertainty this situation creates for the research community and those who support our mission.
University leaders are actively evaluating the impact of this policy and are working with national organizations to advocate for continued support of the country’s research infrastructure.
We strongly encourage all faculty to continue submitting NIH proposals and proposals seeking funding from other federal agencies. Your research remains vital to our mission, and we are committed to supporting your efforts.
Please notify the Sponsored Programs Administration by emailing grantsdc@missouri.edu if you receive a stop-work order from a federal sponsor.
We have launched a federal updates webpage on the Mizzou Division of Research website to provide guidance for researchers. Please bookmark this page for future reference.
Thank you for your dedication to advancing research at Mizzou.
Sincerely,
Thomas E. Spencer, PhD, NAS
Vice Chancellor for Research
