The University of Missouri is thrilled to host the renowned Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science for a transformative two-day, in-person workshop. This exclusive program will introduce participants to the Alda Method, which blends social science research with improvisational theater exercises to develop effective communication strategies. Faculty who attend will learn to break down complex information into engaging, accessible content and foster trust and connection with diverse audiences. 

The Alda Science Communication Experience is the center’s premier program, refined over years and informed by current science communication research. Participants will engage in interactive workshops focusing on active listening, nonverbal communication and peer feedback. These sessions offer a chance to experiment with different communication strategies and tactics, combining applied improvisation exercises with strategic messaging techniques to craft effective, engaging and accurate messages.
