MU owns all intellectual property created utilizing University facilities by an employee or student of the University of Missouri. Inventions must be formally disclosed to the Office of Technology Management and Industry Relations (OTMIR).
In order to disclose, inventors must complete a UM16C Invention Disclosure Form to report inventions for patenting and marketing considerations. When applicable, Mobile App and Software Disclosure Forms are also available.
Invention Disclosure Forms are used to report inventions as called for in the Collected Rules and Regulations of the University of Missouri, Section 100.020. All disclosure forms are available to download from this webpage, or you may pick up a paper copy from OTMIR at the MU Life Science Business Incubator at 1601 S. Providence Road, Suite 124.
Once OTMIR has received a signed Disclosure Form, we will perform an in-depth technical and market assessment. Because the information contained in the Disclosure Form is essential for the formal evaluation process, inventors are urged to submit detailed and accurate information. Our team welcomes the opportunity to assist inventors with completing the required forms.
