The NRC expects to support a limited number of awards of up to approximately $450,000 total costs per institution.

The maximum amount of funding that the NRC will award for an application may not exceed $150,000 total costs per year, provided that an additional $50,000 is fully matched by the institution. 

Awards are for three years and may not be renewed.

Only one application per institution is allowed.

This program provides funding to support nuclear science, engineering, and related disciplines to develop a workforce capable of supporting the design, construction, operation, and regulation of nuclear facilities and the safe handling of nuclear materials.

The objectives of the program are to attract and retain highly-qualified individuals in academic teaching careers, specifically targeting probationary, tenure-track faculty during the first 6 years of their career, and new faculty hires in Nuclear Engineering, Health Physics, Radiochemistry, Probability Risk Assessment (Levels 2 & 3), and related disciplines.
