Limited Submission Announcement

The American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS) Scholarship gives both recognition and financial support to the activities and studies of young investigators, educators, and administrators in order to help prepare them for positions of leadership in academic radiology. This purpose is in accordance with the definition of scholar as one who attends a school or studies under a teacher. The ARRS scholarship may be used for study outside the parent institution. The ARRS scholarship is not intended for investigators seeking support for a specific research project or as seed money for research.

The candidate must meet these qualifications:

1. Earned M.D. or D.O. from an accredited institution.
2. Completion of all required residency or fellowship training or equivalent.
3. A full-time faculty appointment as a lecturer, instructor, assistant professor, or equivalent for no more than five years beyond completion of training. The appointment must be in a department of radiology, nuclear medicine, or an associated department in the radiological sciences of a medical school teaching hospital in the United States or Canada.
4. Certification by the American Board of Radiology or equivalent.
5. Letter of nomination by the department chair, including a commitment of a minimum of 80 percent of the candidate's time to the scholarship program for a one-year program, or minimum of 50 percent of the candidate's time for a two-year program.
6. Membership in the ARRS at the time the application is submitted and for the duration of the award.

Because MU is limited to one application annually for this program, letters of intent must be submitted to the Office of Research,, no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2009. Letters of intent should be limited to a 2-page description of the applicant’s qualifications, goals and purpose of study and a 2-page biographical sketch of the applicant.
