Limited Submission Announcement

The NIH National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NCMHD) solicits applications for Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) (R24) planning grants to support intervention research studies using community-based participatory research (CBPR) principles to reduce and eventually eliminate health disparities in any disease or condition of major concern to the community with emphasis on racial and ethnic minorities. The first six months of the first year of the grant are devoted to partnership development, community needs assessment, identifying the disease/condition for intervention research, and planning the intervention methodology with substantial input from the community. During the remaining 18 months of the grant award, a pilot intervention research study will be conducted with community participation.

Because MU is limited to one application for this program, letters of intent must be submitted to the Office of Research, ltdsub@missouri.edu, no later than 4:00 p.m. on Froday. May 29, 2009. Letters of intent should be limited to three pages and should include 1) the target community or communities for the study, 2) collaborating organizations/institutions, 3) plans for establishing effective input from the community, and 4) an overview of preliminary plans for the research to be conducted.
