Limited Submission Announcement

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) requests applications for the Herbert W. Nickens Faculty Fellowship to recognize an outstanding junior faculty member who has demonstrated leadership in addressing inequities in medical education and health care; demonstrated efforts in addressing the educational, societal, and health care needs of minorities; and is committed to a career in academic medicine. Funding for the fellowship begins in November of the year the fellowship is awarded.

Because MU is limited to one application for this program, letters of intent must be submitted to the Office of Research, ltdsub@missouri.edu, no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2009. Letters of intent should be limited to a 3-page summary including 1) demonstrated leadership (or leadership potential) in addressing inequities in medical education and health care; 2) demonstrated efforts in (or potential for) addressing educational, societal, and health care needs of minorities; 3) motivations and objectives for a career in academic medicine; and 4) plan for how the fellowship funds will be used. Additionally, a 2-page biographical sketch of the nominee should be included.
