Limited Submission Announcement

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requests applications for State Food Safety Task Force Conference Grants. The FDA views support of State Food Safety Task Force meetings as an ongoing program. This initiative is intended to support and encourage State food regulatory agencies to establish or provide support for existing regularly scheduled Food Safety Task Force meetings. These meetings should foster communication and cooperation among State and local food safety regulatory agencies and are consistent with the Administration's food safety initiatives. The meetings should (1) provide a forum for all the stakeholders of the food safety initiative; regulatory agencies, academia, industry, consumers, State legislators, and other interested parties; (2) assist in adopting or implementing the Food Code; and (3) promote the integration of an efficient statewide food safety system that maximizes the protection of the public health.

One grant will be awarded per State per year. A lead/champion/initiating State food regulatory agency ("initiating agency") who will coordinate, host, and take the lead in establishing the Food Safety Task Force must be designated by the State prior to submission of an application.

Because MU is limited to one application for this program, letters of intent must be submitted to the Office of Research,, no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2009.
