IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program
Limited Submission AnnouncementThe Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is accepting applications for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) grant program. This is one of several IRS initiatives to provide free tax preparation service for the underserved low income population, which includes the elderly; disabled; limited English proficient; non-urban and Native American taxpayers. Because MU is limited to one application for this program, letters of intent must be submitted to the Office of Research, ltdsub@missouri.edu, no later than 4:00 p.m., Friday, August 1, 2008. Letters of intent should be limited to a 3-page summary, including 1) a brief description of the existing or planned program, including evaluation results if an existing program; 2) plan to recruit, train and manage volunteers; and 3) the source of matching funds.
