Limited Submission Announcement

The Japan Prize offers an award for a TV series that has achieved excellent educational effects through continuous broadcasting over the long term. TV series that are produced with a clear target audience and precise educational goals are eligible and should meet the following criteria:

  1. Continuously broadcast at a set time over at least one year
  2. Broadcast at least once a month
  3. Length of one program is within 60 minutes excluding commercials
  4. The series is to continue beyond July 31, 2008, with a plan for production of new episodes.
  5. Any target age is acceptable.
  6. The episode must have been first broadcast between August 1, 2007, and July 31, 2008.

Because MU is limited to one application for this program, letters of intent must be submitted to the Office of Research, ltdsub@missouri.edu, no later than 4:00 p.m., Friday, June 13, 2008. Letters of intent should be limited to drafts of the required 1) synopsis of the episode, 2) expected educational effect of watching the series regularly, 3) brief history of the series including educational aims and design to achieve those aims, and 4) audience reactions to the series.

Amount:

An award, a certificate, and $2,000
