The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), through its Nuclear Education Program, offers two funding opportunities at the university level to support courses, studies, training, curricula, and disciplines pertaining to nuclear safety, security, or environmental protection: the Scholarship and Fellowship Program and the Faculty Development Program. Nuclear Education Program – Scholarship and Fellowship Funding under this program supports promising undergraduate (scholarships) and graduate (fellowships) students pursuing degrees in nuclear-related areas toward eventual careers in nuclear science and engineering. Program requirements include the following:
Because MU is limited to two applications for this program, letters of intent must be submitted to the Office of Research, ltdsub@missouri.edu, no later than 4:00 pm on Friday, March 14, 2008. Letters of intent should be limited to three pages and should include 1) a description of the proposed program, including the number and size of the scholarships or fellowships; 2) a plan for recruiting applicants, including marketing strategy; and 3) a description of the management and evaluation plan to ensure the effectiveness of the program.

The program specifically targets probationary, tenure-track faculty in these disciplines who are in the first six years of their academic careers.
