The Missouri Foundation for Health will assist organizations working with youth under age 21 requiring intensive, coordinated treatment for mental health disorders and/or substance abuse. Organizations will be expected to implement evidence-based treatment services or promising practices in the proposed programs. Organizations may propose projects in one or more of these areas:

  • School-based mental health and/or substance abuse prevention and/or treatment services, with emphasis on school collaboration.
  • Youth suicide prevention for individuals under age 21, with emphasis on school collaboration.
  • Integration of evidence-based mental health and substance abuse treatment for adolescents with both mental illness and substance abuse (co-occurring disorders).

Because the University of Missouri System is limited to one application for this program, letters of intent must be submitted to the Office of Research,, no later than 4:00 pm, Friday, February 1, 2008. Letters of intent should be limited to a two-page summary of the proposed project including 1) the area(s) the project will address, 2) the evidence-based or promising practice to be utilized, 3) the target population, 4) and the goals and objectives of the project.


Variable, up to $375,000 for a three year project
