The Energy Innovations Small Grant Program (EISG) Program, managed by the California Energy Commission fund energy research, development and demonstration (RD&D) projects that are not adequately provided for by competitive and regulated energy markets. Proposals must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible for consideration under the EISG program:
- The proposed work must advance science or technology not adequately addressed by competitive and regulated markets
- Propose an original innovative solution to a significant energy problem
- Propose work that is still in the proof-of-concept phase
- Address a California market need
- Provide a clear potential benefit to California electricity ratepayers
- Target one of the following six program areas:
- Industrial/Agriculture/Water End-Use Efficiency
- Building End-Use Efficiency
- Environmentally Preferred Advanced Generation
- Renewable Generation
- Energy-Related Environmental Research
- Energy Systems Integration (formerly "Strategic Energy Research")
Because MU is limited to one application for this program, letters of intent must be submitted to the Office of Research, ltdsub@missouri.edu, no later than 4:00 pm Friday, January 18, 2007. Letters of intent should be limited to a three page description of the project focusing on the eligibility criteria described above.
Amount: |
A maximum of $95,000 for hardware projects requiring physical testing and $50,000 for modeling projects is available per grant project. Approximately $2.6 million per year are allocated to EISG grants. There are no matching funds or repayment requirements associated with the EISG Program. However, cost sharing is encouraged and is a consideration in the evaluation process. |
