The Compton Foundation’s Population and Reproductive Health grant making links population stabilization with peace and environment issues, and as such with broader social development and environmental goals. In choosing Population and Reproductive Health as a major area of grant making, the Foundation recognizes that many complex factors pose a threat to human and ecological security. These factors are closely interrelated and include the status of women and the health and safety of families, as well as the dynamics of population growth, consumption, and technology. The Foundation also recognizes that many factors threaten human reproductive health, including toxins in our environment. The focus on Population and Reproductive Health is part of the Foundation's commitment to a world that allows for the full richness of human experience, both personal and global. The goals for this program are to achieve a healthy planet, ensure and improve access to family planning and reproductive health services within the US, and make emergency contraception a widely accepted and available method of family planning in the US and internationally. Because MU is limited to one application for this program, letters of intent must be submitted to the Office of Research, ltdsub@missouri.edu, no later than 4:00 pm Friday, January 11, 2008. Letters of intent should be limited to 3 pages and should summarize the project’s geographic focus, goals, and environmental and reproductive health benefits.
