The Doris Duke Distinguished Clinical Scientist Award (DCSA) recognizes outstanding mid-career physician-scientists who are applying the latest scientific advances to the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and cure of disease, and enables them to support and mentor the next generation of physician-scientists conducting clinical research.

All nominees must:

• Be a physician-scientist with an established translational clinical research program in any disease area;
• Have received an MD or a foreign equivalent from an accredited institution;
• Be working in a US degree-granting institution not necessarily a US citizen;
• Have a full-time university faculty appointment at least at the level of Associate Professor or its equivalent as of January 1, 2008;
• Have been appointed to their first full-time faculty-level position no earlier than January 1, 1993. (All full-time post-fellowship instructor-level positions will be considered full-time faculty-level appointments.)
  

Because MU is limited to twp applications for this program, letters of intent must be submitted to the Office of Research, ltdsub@missouri.edu, no later than 4:00 pm Friday, November 23, 2007. Letters of intent should be limited to two pages, including 1) a summary of the proposed research, including aims, originality and methods; 2) a statement of the physician-scientist’s most significant research accomplishments and most significant mentoring activities; and 3) the impact DCSA funding would have on the applicant’s research vision over the next five years. In addition to the letter of intent, applicants should also submit a two-page biographical sketch.
