The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) is soliciting applications for the National NeuroAIDS Tissue Consortium (NNTC) Network Data Coordinating Center (DCC). The DCC should be an organization that (1) has database capabilities that allows them to effectively collect, organize, manage, and interpret and share data through clinical and brain banking operations and (2) can provide scientific expertise in HIV epidemiology and biostatistics and facilitate the development of a neuroAIDS scientific agenda based upon the NNTC data and cohort. The NNTC awards will directly and indirectly support ongoing neuroAIDS research projects and the initiation of new projects concerning the long-term effects of HIV infection and treatments on brain function via RFA-MH-08-021.

Because MU is limited to one application for this program, letters of intent must be submitted to the Office of Research,, no later than 4:00 pm Friday, June 29, 2007. Letters of intent should be limited to three pages and should summarize 1) the operations of the DCC and how it will meet the data management, communications and other functions in support of the NNTC, and 2) the DCC’s plan for scientific leadership and agenda setting.


The NIMH intends to commit approximately $450,000 in direct costs in FY 2008 to fund 1 DCC in response to this RFA. An applicant may request a project period of up to 5 years.
