The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) Career Transition Award (CTA) provides research training to new investigators engaged in basic or clinical biomedical or behavioral research relevant to the NICHD mission, and facilitates their successful transition to independent researcher status. It is anticipated that awardees will subsequently obtain research project (R01) grants to support the continuation of their work. Applicants must have earned a clinical or research doctorate, have between one and five years of postdoctoral research training, and hold a postdoctoral fellowship position within the NICHD Division of Intramural Research or be poised to enter such a position.

Because MU is limited to one application for this program, letters of intent must be submitted to the Office of Research, ltdsub@missouri.edu, no later than 4:00 pm Friday, March 30, 2007. Letters of intent should be limited to a three-page summary of the proposed research project and a two-page biosketch of the PI. The three-page summary should include the following: 1) brief overview of the career development plan, 2) overview of the proposed research, and 3) names and departmental affiliations of the mentor and those from whom letters of reference will be sought.
