The NIH Centers of Excellence in Genomic Science (CEGS) program will establish about 10 academic centers for advanced genome research, using the P50 Specialized Center and P20 Exploratory Center planning grant mechanisms. Each CEGS grant supports a multi-investigator, interdisciplinary team to develop innovative genomic approaches to address a particular biological problem. A CEGS project will address a critical issue in genomic science, proposing a solution that would be a very substantial advance. Because MU is limited to one application per receipt date for this program, letters of intent must be submitted to the Office of Research, ltdsub@missouri.edu, no later than 4:00 pm Friday, December 8, 2006. Letters of intent should be limited to 3 pages and should include 1) the mechanism for which the proposal will apply (P20 or P50); 2) the application receipt date for which it will be submitted; 3) a summary of the overall approach/theme of the center, investigators expected to be involved, and training activities planned.
