Through its research program, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society hopes to encourage and promote research activity of the highest quality on leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. The Scholar Award is intended to develop research careers, not to support well-established, tenured, or senior investigators. The program is designed to aid the individual, rather than the project, and to encourage continued investigations in the field while assuring the investigator an income.

Applicants should hold a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree at the time a grant is to become effective and must be employed by an academic or nonprofit research institution or laboratory. Applicants should have held an independent faculty-level appointment for no more than eight years at the time of the review (January 2007).

Because MU is limited to one application for this program, letters of intent must be submitted to the Office of Research, ltdsub@missouri.edu, no later than 5:00 pm Friday, July 14, 2006. Letters of intent should be limited to a 1-page summary of the proposed research and a 2-page biographical sketch of the applicant.

Amount:

Scholar awards are for $110,000 (stipend $105,000 plus $5,000 institutional overhead) per year for five years.

MU Deadline: 5:00 p.m., Friday, July 14, 2006 (letter of intent)
