The Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City will support work that augments  “safety net” health care, with emphasis on three areas of need: Strengthening Organizational Capacity, Delivering Culturally Competent Services and/or Enabling Community-based Health Planning. The broad goal of this initiative is a safety net care system that more efficiently and effectively serves more of the medically indigent in the HCF service area. Health system planning for the uninsured and underserved, strengthening and expanding infrastructure for direct care services, and improving the efficiency of direct care operations are examples of projects that would be eligible for this round of Foundation Defined Grants. Proposed projects must be targeted for underserved populations in the area served by the Foundation: Kansas City, Missouri and a six county service area (Missouri: Cass, Jackson, Lafayette Counties; Kansas: Allen, Johnson, Wyandotte Counties).

The Foundation will not provide grants for biomedical research, clinical trials, or funding to individuals. The Foundation will not support medical procedures on an individual patient basis. Ineligible activities also include grants to offset the maintenance of effort by public or private entities, endowments, construction, non-mandated renovation, debt retirement, and political campaigns.

Potential applicants for these grants may attend one of following pre-proposal conferences that will be offered during this cycle. These sessions will address any changes in the Grant Application Process and provide an opportunity for prospective applicants to ask questions. See the URL link below for more information and to RSVP.
