The Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation’s New Faculty Awards program provides funding for new faculty members in chemical disciplines at the start of their research and teaching activities. While most talented young faculty apply for and secure external research support, such support does not ordinarily become available before the end of the first year of appointment. Thus, a key feature of the award is an unrestricted research grant that is awarded in September of the year the new faculty member formally begins the first year appointment.

Only faculty members who are due to start their first full-time tenure-track appointments in the year of nomination are eligible for awards. Nominees are normally expected to have no more than three years of postdoctoral experience.

Because MU is limited to one application for this program, letters of intent must be submitted to the Office of Research,, no later than 5:00 pm Friday, March 31, 2006. Letters of intent should be limited to a one-page summary of the nominee’s strengths, achievements and research as well as a two-page biosketch of the nominee

Amount: $100,000 for a duration of 5 years
MU Deadline: 5:00 p.m., Friday, March 31, 2006 (letter of intent)
