The National Endowment for the Arts Funding Opportunities in Arts Education program is interested in projects, regardless of the size or type of applicant organization, that are of national, regional, or field-wide significance; that tour in several states; or that provide an unusual or especially valuable contribution because of geographic location. This includes local projects that can have significant effects within communities or that are likely to serve as models for a field.

Grants are available for projects in the following arts disciplines: dance; design; folk and traditional arts; literature; media arts: film/radio/television; music; musical theater; opera; presenting; theater; visual arts. Grants are also available for multidisciplinary projects, local arts agencies; and museums.

Grants are available under three programs:
1. Access to Artistic Excellence
2. Challenge America "Reaching Every Community" Fast-Track Review Grants
3. Learning in the Arts for Children and Youth

Because MU is limited to one application for one of these programs with a few, narrowly-defined exceptions, letters of intent must be submitted to the Office of Research,, no later than 5:00 pm Friday, February 10, 2006. Letters of intent should be limited to a 3-page summary of the proposed project, including 1) the program to which the application will be submitted, 2) the MU entity making the submission, 3) the anticipated budget request, and 4) an overview of the project activities.


$5,000 to $150,000 for Access to Artistic Excellence grants
$10,000 for Challenge America Fast-Track Review grants
$5,000 to $150,000 for Learning in the Arts for Children and Youth grants

MU Deadline: 5:00 p.m., Friday, February 10, 2006 (letter of intent)
Sponsor Deadline:

March 13 & August 14, 2006 (Access to Artistic Excellence)
June 1, 2006 (Challenge America Fast-Track Review Grants)
June 12, 2006 (Learning in the Arts for Children and Youth)
