The NSF Informal Science Education (ISE) program invests in projects that develop and implement informal learning experiences designed to increase interest, engagement, and understanding of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by individuals of all ages and backgrounds, as well as projects that advance knowledge and practice of informal science education. Projects may target either public audiences or professionals whose work directly affects informal STEM learning. ISE projects are expected to demonstrate strategic impact that advances the field overall, innovation at the frontiers of informal science education, and collaboration among organizations with complementary resources and expertise.

Because MU is limited to three applications for project grants in this program, letters of intent must be submitted to the Office of Research, ltdsub@missouri.edu, no later than 5:00 pm Friday, January 20, 2006. Letters of intent should be limited to a 2 pages and should include 1) the type of proposal to be submitted, and 2) a draft of the Project Summary as described in the NSF program solicitation.

Amount: Up to $3,000,000 for up to 5 years
MU Deadline: 5:00 p.m., Friday, January 20, 2006 (letter of intent)
Sponsor Deadline:

Preliminary proposal (required for Project Grants) due March 21, 2006, full proposal due June 22, 2006
