The Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation seeks nominations for the New Faculty Awards Program to provide funding for new faculty members in chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical engineering at the start of their research and teaching activities. The New Faculty Award provides an unrestricted research grant of $50,000 that is generally made before the new faculty members formally begin their first tenure-track appointments.  Faculty members who start their first tenure-track appointments in one of these disciplines in 2005 are eligible for nomination in 2005.

Nominations are reviewed by distinguished faculty in the field of chemistry.  Awards are based on evidence that the nominee has the potential to produce an independent body of scientific scholarship of outstanding quality and will make significant contributions to overall education in the chemical sciences.

Because institutions may submit only one nomination annually, nominees must be submitted to the Office of Research, 203 Jesse Hall, by 5:00 p.m. on April 1, 2005.  Nominations should be limited to a 2-page vita for the nominee.

Amount: $50,000; Funds are normally expended over a period of five years.
Internal Deadline: 5:00 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2005
