Limited Submission Announcement

The Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Awards provide seed money for research by junior faculty at Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) member institutions. These awards are intended to enrich the research and professional growth of young faculty and result in new funding opportunities. The research project must be in one of the following five disciplines: engineering and applied science, life sciences, mathematics or computer sciences, physical sciences, policy, management, or education. Full-time assistant professors at ORAU member institutions within two years of their initial tenure track appointment (January 14, 2009, through January 14, 2011) at the time of application are eligible.

Because MU is limited to two applications for this program, letters of intent must be submitted to the Office of Research,, no later than 4:00 p.m., on Friday, November 26, 2010. Letters of intent should be limited to a total of 3 pages and should include 1) an overview of the proposed research and methods, 2) how the project will add to the field's scientific knowledge base, 3) a budget outline including the likely source(s) of the required cost match, 4) a biographical sketch of the applicant, and 5) names of three MU personnel who could serve as internal reviewers for letters of intent under this program.


$5,000 with a required match of at least $5,000 from MU. This is a one-year grant (June 1 to May 31).
