Limited Submission Announcement

The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) solicits applications for the Academic-Community Partnership Conference Series (U13) to conduct health disparities-related meetings, workshops, and symposia. The objectives of these meetings will be to establish academic-community partnerships, identify community-research priorities, and develop long-term collaborative agendas. Areas of focus for these partnerships may include one or more of the following community-health issues infant mortality; sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS); violence prevention; techniques for outreach and information dissemination; childhood, adolescent, or adult obesity; health literacy; uterine fibroid tumors; and pediatric and maternal HIV/AIDS prevention.

Because MU is limited to one application for this program, letters of intent must be submitted to the Office of Research, ltdsub@missouri.edu, no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2010. Letters of intent should be limited to 3 pages and should include 1) a brief description of the objectives for the proposed meetings to support the development of community partnerships, including developments or contributions the meeting might stimulate and how the meetings will relate to partnering with the community of interest; 2) logistical arrangements, including the meeting formats and types of participants (e.g., community organizations, University staff); 3) specific programs and principal topics to be covered; and 4) the names of three MU personnel who could serve as internal reviewers for letters of intent under this program.

Amount:

Up to $30,000 in direct costs per year for up to 3 years.
