Limited Submission Announcement

The National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) Core Centers for Musculoskeletal Biology and Medicine (CCMBM) will provide shared facilities and services to groups of established, currently funded investigators addressing scientific problems in musculoskeletal biology and medicine in order to improve efficiency, accelerate the pace of research, and ensure greater productivity. Key public health problems addressed by this research include osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, and muscular dystrophy.

Because MU is limited to one application for this program, letters of intent must be submitted to the Office of Research,, no later than 4:00 p.m. Friday, July 23, 2010. Letters of intent should be limited to a 3-page summary, including 1) key problem(s) to be addressed and how the center will advance scientific knowledge and/or clinical practice; 2) proposed structure of the core center, including proposed research cores and plans for pilot and feasibility projects; 3) current funded research base for the center and anticipated participating departments/scientists; and 4) names of three MU personnel who could serve as internal reviewers for letters of intent under this program.


Direct costs of up to $400,000 per year may be requested, with a total project period of five years.
