Limited Submission Announcement

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is one of several initiatives to promote and support free tax preparation service for the underserved low-income population, which includes elderly, disabled, limited English proficient, non-urban and Native American taxpayers.

Because MU is limited to one application for this program, letters of intent must be submitted to the Office of Research,, no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 25, 2010. Letters of intent should be limited to a 3-page summary, including 1) a brief description of the existing or planned program, including evaluation results if an existing program; 2) plan to recruit, train and manage volunteers; and 3) the source of matching funds.


All applicants must provide matching funds on a dollar-for-dollar basis for all VITA Grant Program funds requested. All matching funds must be used to support the program. Prior VITA or TCE grant recipients in good standing have the opportunity to apply for the VITA Grant for up to three years.
