Limited Submission Announcement

The National Science Foundation’s Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Talent Expansion Program (STEP) seeks to increase the number of students (U.S. citizens or permanent residents) receiving associate or baccalaureate degrees in established or emerging fields within science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Type 1 proposals are solicited that provide for full implementation efforts at academic institutions. Type 2 proposals are solicited that support educational research projects on associate or baccalaureate degree attainment in STEM.

An institution is allowed to submit only one Type 1 proposal, or to be part of only one consortium submitting a Type 1 proposal. However, there are no restrictions on the number of Type 2 proposals that an institution may submit.

Because MU is limited to participation in one Type 1 proposal, letters of intent must be submitted to the Office of Research, ltdsub@missouri.edu, no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 21, 2010. Letters of intent should be limited to three pages, including summaries of 1) anticipated target(s) for increased graduation rates, 2) disciplines to be served by the project, 3) proposed activities, and 4) evaluation plans.

Amount:

Up to a total of $2 million for up to five years.

Campus Deadline for Letter of Intent:

4:00 p.m., Friday, May 21, 2010

External Proposal Deadlines:

Optional letters of intent due August 17, 2010
