Limited Submission Announcement

The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) and the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) solicit grant applications from institutions and organizations to support A Centralized Protein Sequence and Function Resource (the “Resource”) that will serve as a repository of curated protein sequences and provide high-quality annotation of the functional information.

The Resource will enable a broad range of scientists to use the large amount of information available on proteins and their functions in a wide variety of experimental and computational applications. Thus, the Resource must provide comprehensive information concerning the protein products of genes. The user interface must be simple and easy to understand, while the analysis and search results should allow easy access to different levels of information. Analysis and search results should include Web-based links to other databases to facilitate the rapid exploration of additional information. The Resource should provide tools to facilitate the identification and analyses of many genes and their products. These tools should include methods for complex queries and for retrieval of datasets for later analysis.

Because MU is limited to one application for this program, letters of intent must be submitted to the Office of Research,, no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 26, 2010. Letters of intent should be limited to 3 pages and should include a brief summary of plans for 1) curation and quality control processes, 2) data types to be included, 3) annotation methods, 4) integration of and coordination with other existing genomics and proteomics resources, and 5) broad accessibility by the scientific community.

Up to $18,000,000 for a project period of up to three years.

Campus Deadline for Letter of Intent:
