Limited Submission Announcement

The Missouri Foundation for Health (MFH) requests applications for projects that may qualify for the Health Care Workforce Development – Encouraging Pursuit of Careers in Health Care (EPOCH) funding opportunity. Funding will support organizations providing new, enhanced or expanded youth-focused projects that promote awareness, recruitment, preparation and training for health careers among students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

MFH welcomes applicants that:

  • Use evidence-based strategies.
  • Seek to diversify the workforce.
  • Focus on rural or underserved areas.
  • Work with cross-sector partners.
  • Identify organizational and public policies affecting health care workforce issues in the community.

The intent of this funding is for organizations seeking to implement community-based programs that encourage and engage youth to explore careers in health care. Applicants are encouraged to collaborate with cross-sector partners to ensure youth have the resources to fully understand the educational and training requirements to attain such a career. Organizations serving minority and rural youth are encouraged to apply. The expected start date for projects is September 1, 2010.

Because the UM system is limited to one application for this program, letters of intent must be submitted to the Office of Research,, no later than 4:00 p.m., Friday, January 15, 2010. Letters of intent should be limited to three pages and should include 1) project goals and objectives, 2) target population, 3) summary of activities, and 4) evaluation plan.


Maximum of $150,000 over a three-year period (maximum of $50,000 per year).

Sponsor Deadlines:

Pre-Application Conference – January 14, 2010, MFH office (videoconference option available).

Application Due – February 8, 2010 (must be received in the MFH office by 4 pm).
