Limited Submission Announcement

The NIH National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NCMHD) invites applications for Health Disparities Research on Minority and Underserved Populations (R01) to support research on diseases and conditions that disproportionately affect ethnic racial minorities, underserved populations, and rural and low-income populations. Specific targeted areas of research may include but are not limited to biological, behavioral change strategies, lifestyle factors, environmental, social and structural barriers, economics, institutional and cultural, family influences, delivery system interventions, medical procedures and regimens (including alternative therapy), and medical and assistive devices and technologies.

Because MU is limited to one application for this program, letters of intent must be submitted to the Office of Research, ltdsub@missouri.edu, no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 15, 2010. Letters of intent should be limited to 3 pages and should include 1) a summary of the proposed project, 2) plans for the recruitment and retention of subjects, and 3) evaluation plans.

An update has been posted for this grant opportunity stating, “Applicant Institutions/Organizations may submit more than one application, provided each application is scientifically distinct and has a different PD/PI.” Therefore, we will not run an internal competition/review for this program. If you are interested in submitting an application for this program, please follow the normal procedures for submitting through Sponsored Programs.

Amount:

Up to $250,000 a year with a project period of up to five years.

Optional letters of intent due January 26, 2010
Full proposals due February 26, 2010
