Limited Submission Announcement

The Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) Foundation solicits applications for the Dr. Ernest J. Ring Academic Development Grant program. The program is designed to provide support to junior Interventional Radiology faculty members early in their academic careers to allow time for the conduct of research. The goal of this program is to have the grant recipient subsequently obtain additional funding from other sources, e.g., NIH grants.

Eligibility requirements:

• Junior full-time faculty members, with a M.D., D.O., Ph.D., or equivalent degree in educational institutions in the US and Canada
• SIR member or have significant input and involvement by an SIR member
• Not yet recognized as independent investigator or recipient of major grant support (i.e., current grants exceeding $50,000)
• Within the first five years of initial faculty appointment after having completed all formal training
• Hold a position up to and including the assistant professor level at the time of application
• US or Canada resident or have permanent resident status

Because MU is limited to one application for this program, letters of intent must be submitted to the Office of Research, ltdsub@missouri.edu, no later than 4:00 pm Friday, October 23, 2009. Letters of intent should include a two-page description of the proposed research and the mentor’s strengths and interests as well as a two-page biographical sketch of the applicant.
