WHAT: The Myron Watkins Distinguished Professor of Marketing at the MU Trulaske College of Business, Marsha Richins, will present “Always Wanting More: Implications of Materialism on Ourselves and Our World” at the 2008 21st Century Corps of Discovery lecture at the University of Missouri.

The annual lecture commemorates the contributions of Lewis and Clark by featuring an MU professor who inspires and brings together the university community at the beginning of each academic year.

Richins will explore why people want things and why getting things sometimes feels empty, how the incessant quest for "more" affects our lives and the lives of those closest to us, the role that social institutions play in fostering this quest and the environmental, social and political impact of materialism on the world at large.

WHO: This event is free and open to the public.
