Noah Manring is Appointed Associate Dean for Research in the College of Engineering

COLUMBIA, MO -- Noah Manring has been appointed Associate Dean for Research for the College of Engineering, effective Oct. 1. Noah is also the James C. Dowell Professor in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and has been serving as Interim Associate Dean for Research since December, 2004.

Erik Loehr, who chaired the faculty search committee, said, "The committee received a number of applications for the position from both internal and external candidates. After reviewing the applicant pool, the search committee concluded that Noah Manring was the right person to lead the College's research endeavors at this time."

Dean Jim Thompson said, "During his tenure as Interim Associate Dean, Noah has proven to be an extremely capable leader who can effectively work with College faculty, staff, and administrators, and research leaders across campus to facilitate long-term research growth. We look forward to working with Noah to realize the College’s research agenda."

Noah holds B.S. and B.A. degrees from Michigan State University, an M.S. from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and the Ph.D. degree from Iowa State University. His research interests include: mechanics, dynamics, controls, design, and fluid power.
