Access the eIRB online system at http://irb.missouri.edu/eirb/ and select "IRB Forms" from the main menu. All Campus IRB forms, including new applications, are available here. How do I get human subjects training?Human subjects training and HIPAA training can be completed by accessing the eIRB online system at http://irb.missouri.edu/eirb/. From the main menu choose "Compliance Training" and select the appropriate reference materials to review the information and the quiz to complete the training requirement. Human subjects training requirements can also be met by attending one of the live training sessions offered by the Campus IRB throughout the school year. Contact the Campus IRB office at (573) 882-9585 to sign up for a training session. How do I check the status of my Campus IRB application?The status of your Campus IRB application and requests for further information made by the Campus IRB can be monitored online at http://irb.missouri.edu/eirb/. From the main menu, choose "Open Saved IRB Project", select "View Forms" and click the "View All Project Comments" link. How do I protect my intellectual property?All inventions should be carefully documented in a laboratory notebook. Documentation should include the date of conception, purpose of the invention, and the methodology used in the experimentation. Notebook entries should be dated and signed by the inventor and witnessed by at least one other individual who is familiar with the science but would not be considered a co-inventor. Next, you should submit an Invention Disclosure Form with the Office of Technology Management & Industry Relations. Keep in mind that under U.S. patent law, a patent will not be granted to an applicant unless the application is filed less than one year from the date that the invention was first made public, sold or offered for sale. Publications and, in some cases, presentations can start the one year time period if enough information describing the invention is disclosed. In many foreign countries, the right to file a patent ends immediately upon the first public disclosure. How do I submit an invention disclosure or idea for a patent?The Office of Technology Management & Industry Relations has an Invention Disclosure Form that documents the conception and development of the invention. The information you provide in the disclosure form will help the licensing manager evaluate the technology and if it is determined that a patent application should be filed, it will assist the patent attorney in drafting the application. The disclosure form can be mailed, faxed or sent electronically to the Office of Technology Management & Industry Relations.
